Wall of Power Radio Hour – February 4, 2017
This week we have a bluegrass powered radio show with Steve Howard, a great bluegrass guitar and banjo picker. Steve moved to the Twin Cities from the West Coast in 1981. He tells us about his training in LA under the great thespian John Houseman (Paper Chase among others) and after spending time at the legendary McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica became actively involved in learning how to play guitar and got very interested in acoustic blues and bluegrass. He has a show coming up at the LynLake Brewery in Uptown Minneapolis (2934 Lyndale Avenue South) on Saturday, Feb. 11th with his band the Blue Drifters. Steve played several bluegrass chestnuts live in the studio and he joined host Paul Metsa for a great version of the Doc Watson classic Deep River Blues. All that and a bit of a tutorial on the roots of bluegrass as well. The show airs on Saturday, Feb. 4th at 6pmCST and is replayed Sunday at 4pm on AM 950 in the Twin Cities (the Progressive Voice of MN) and can be streamed via www.wallofpowerradio.com
