Hour 1 segment 1: Todd Mikkelson fills in for Matt today. He’s joined by Caitlin Cahill, 2020 candidate for MN House seat 33A, for both hours. We talk through the final day of the legislative session, Gov. Tim Walz agreeing to give up his emergency powers.
Hour 1 segment 2: A conversation about how the DFL can have candidates campaign in 2022 and beyond, the importance of door knocking,
Hour 1 segments 3/4: We talk about Caitlin’s unique perspective of being on the city council of Maple Plain and now her running for the state legislature. She talks about how when she campaigned people aren’t nearly as divided along partisan lines as is often portrayed.
Hour 2 segment 1: More fraud from another Trump crony, this time Sonny Perdue. A big agriculture firm sold a $5 million property to Trump’s incoming agriculture secretary (Sonny Perdue) for just $250,000 in 2017. Perdue sold it for $12 million. The firm got a tax credit that increased its profit by $270 million.
Hour 2 segment 2: Todd talks about a MN Senate District 33 Republican fundraiser that advertised police and fire departments showing up, without their knowledge. Also MN legislative Republicans vote down a proposal on emergency pay for first responders.
Hour 2 segment 3: Todd and Caitlin share some examples of door knocking as candidates where they were able to secure votes from people who normally wouldn’t vote DFL.
Hour 2 segment 4: The importance of bringing broadband to all Minnesotans, especially rural areas.
