Tommye Myrick, actress from “Cane River” about the romance between two African Americans who come from a different class background. This 1982 feature film is being screened at the Walker Art Center Friday July 26th 2019. It took a year to restore the film. The director Horace Jenkins was an Emmy-award winning documentary filmmaker, and “Cane River” was his first feature-length narrative film. But just months after the film premiered in New Orleans, the forty-two-year-old director died of a heart attack and “Cane River” never received a distribution
