Catch AM950’s LGBTQ-Hosted Programming on Saturday Afternoons

Every Saturday afternoon on AM950 tune in to hear the best in LGBTQ hosted programming! Our block airs Saturdays from 2-6 PM with the following shows:

This Queer Book Saved My Life (2-2:45 PM)

Launched in June 2022, This Queer Book Saved My Life is a heartfelt exploration into the transformative power of queer literature. Each episode brings a new guest sharing the LGBTQ book that saved their life – in conversation with author who wrote it. The narratives touch on finding the language to come out, embarking on gender transitions, navigating familial homophobia, and, in some instances, how literature literally saved lives. The books’ authors join the conversation to share what it took to write and publish the book, along with their hopes for writing it in the first place and its impact since.

The Gaily Show (2:45-3 PM)

The Gaily Show celebrates LGTBQ culture in Minnesota and beyond. Featuring local LGBTQ events, The Gaily Show highlights the books, films, TV shows, music, and podcasts produced by LGBTQ Minnesotans. The Gaily Show also shares the latest in LGBTQ entertainment news and the best of queer culture and entertainment from across the U.S. and world.

Twin Cities Pride Amplified (3-4 PM)

Twin Cities Pride Amplified is a program dedicated to all things LGBTQIA+ community, both here in the Twin Cities area, and beyond. Hosted by TC Pride’s Executive Director Andi Otto and Executive Assistant Rina Heisel, no topic is off limits as we discuss queer rights, culture, health, and events taking place around the metro area. Pride is more than just a weekend in June; the LGBTQIA+ community deserves celebration, elevation, and support all year, so tune in to stay up-to-date on the latest community and TC Pride news. Allies are always encouraged to tune in!

Ellie 2.0 Radio (4-5 PM)

We’re generally aware of hopeless idealists, but how many of us have ever actually heard from one?

Ellie 2.0 is all about idealism and the journey of one particular idealist—Ellie Krug—as she works to make the world a better place.

Only, there’s a slight complicating factor: Ellie’s a 60+ year old transgender woman.

Today, remade as her “true” female self, Ellie’s become a doer and believer in humanity and the common good. As she likes to say, “Ninety-nine percent of us want to do the right thing; it’s just that most are afraid to do what’s right.”

Usually, Ellie’s not afraid and most of the time, she does what’s right. Come along as she tries to lead the way, traveling America to make our country whole and truly great for all and everyone.

Ellie 2.0.

Engaging. Imaginative. Fun. And real.

The Downright Upright Show with Philip Anthony (5-6 PM)

Join host Philip Anthony for interviews, commentary and entertainment! Each show will feature an interview with someone working to make our community a better place. Then at the end of the show we have the shift, where we talk current events!
