Ellie 2.0 Radio – May 20, 2019
It’s an Ellie’s Talking Head Show; I highlight Lewis Hine, an early-20th century photographer whose photographs of child laborers in America helped usher in modern child labor laws; quite the idealist if you ask me! In lieu of an interview, I provide an update on black-color women participating in the Miss America and other pageants; I also talk about episode 20 of the documentary, Jim Crow of the North on TCPBS where the subject of restrictive racial covenants is explored. I then highlight Lena O. Smith, the first black-color woman attorney in Minnesota (she graduated from law school in 1921) who championed against a racist Twin Cities housing system. Finally, in my C-Block, I talk about some recent mistakes I committed with my human inclusivity training, proving yet again that I’m human.
