I begin with our featured idealist, Edie Windsor, who succeeded in getting the Supreme Court to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act’s provision that prevented domestic partners from securing the same rights as married couples. From there, I talk about the Nativity School of Worcester MA, a Catholic school for middle school boys from marginalized communities—the local Bishop has decreed that the school can’t fly the Pride Flag or the Black Lives Matter flag and that the school can no longer refer to itself as “Catholic.” After that, I tackle how conservative political leaders are attacking drag shows (and LGBTQ+ people in general), which includes threatening parents who allow their children to attend library readings featuring drag queens. Ugh.
