Ellie 2.0 Radio – August 20, 2018
This week is an Ellie’s Talking Head Show—there is no Big Interview. Our theme is the intersection of education and idealism, so we’ll first talk about Jane Elliott, the Riceville, Iowa teacher who wanted to teach her third grade class about discrimination. In 1968, just after Dr. King’s death, she imagined and created the “Blue Eyes, Brown Eyes” exercise that’s still used today. Next up is how LeBron James has funded a revolutionary new “I Promise” school in Akron, Ohio. We’ll also talk about how just maybe, transgender humans can teach others about healing America and how I encountered a late teen in foster care who suffered discrimination for simply being herself.
