Standing Up For Those Who Lack Voices – July 16, 2018
Our theme is “standing up for those who lack voices.” Block A: Ralph Lazo, a Latino teenager who, as a show of support for his Japanese friends, voluntarily interned himself at the Manzanar interment camp during WWII after the U.S. gov’t dislocated 100K persons of Japanese ancestry. Block B: an interview with Jenny Schulz, founder of Kids First Law Center in Iowa—An idealist inspired by her mother’s example; Block C: My story of standing up to a power partner, “Charlie” as a young lawyer seeking to protect a client caught on the lower rungs of society.
