Erin interviews the Justice Involved Director, Alicia Doty, from Minnesota Recovery Connection. Alicia shares part of her personal recovery journey and experience with the justice system. The conversation flows as Erin and Alicia discuss why individuals with substance use disorder face even more stigma and barriers if they have “criminal backgrounds” or have been labeled a “felon.” Alicia explains what she is doing with her team to help support individuals facing charges and those who need support as they integrate back into society after incarceration and why it’s imperative that we offer these supports before the individual potentially goes back to their old environment.
